Ongoing Exhibitions
· New York at Its Core: Explores stories of innovation, energy and struggle of generations of immigrants, politicians, tycoons, dreamers, master builders, and ordinary New Yorkers.
· Timescapes: Our award-winning short documentary, explores how New York City grew from a settlement of a few hundred Europeans, Africans, and Native Americans into the metropolis we know today. Narrated by Stanley Tucci. Translations offered in French, Spanish, and Mandarin (Subject to availability)
· Activist New York: New Yorkers have banded together on issues as diverse as civil rights, wages, sexual orientation, and religious freedom. Activist New York presents the passions and conflicts that underlie the city's history of agitation.
Spring Exhibitions
· This is New York: Explores 100 Years of the City in art and pop culture through film and television, visual and performing arts, music, poetry and literature, and even fashion. Closes July 21, 2024
· Byzantine Bembe: Celebrates the visual storytelling of El Barrio’s own artist Manny Vega and his mosaics and murals that adorn street walls, subway stations, and business facades throughout East Harlem. Closes December 8, 2024
· Shirley Chisholm at 100: Commemorating the centennial of her birth Museum of the City of New York and the Shirley Chisholm Project at Brooklyn College present the first major museum exhibition dedicated to the life and legacy of this pathbreaking politician and New Yorker Opens June 14, 2024
